It’s almost as much a part of Autumn as Christmas is of winter, but it’s still shocking to see. Having spent too much time in various supermarkets over the weekend, it appears that they are already starting to stock their Christmas products.
It’s hard to know why people would want to plan the decoration of their tree in early October – surely the needles will have dropped before Halloween – but we can only assume that there’s a market for it. Or, perhaps, it’s more the big supermarkets starting to build up the hype as early as possible to raise people’s expectations so that the Xmas spend will be as big as possible.
Eitherway, it just seems a shame that each year it gets harder and harder for people to enjoy either a religious or secular Christmas holiday without the huge spend-fest.
