The wheels of democracy famously turn very slowly. But not as slowly as the Refreshments Dept that runs Parliament’s bars and pubs.
The Lords Bar, a favourite with lefty researchers and The Daily team, has been out of action for refurbishment, and much to the dismay of all involved, the Parliamentary Intranet has been telling us for months that it would be back open and serving “around April 2006”.
It still says April 2006 today, but The Daily has been reliably informed that the wait is over. The Lords Bar reopens tomorrow – it is good news for the Mother of all Parliaments, and good news for Britain.
