Labour conference: Jowell locked out

Word reaches The Daily that, in a moment that we can only hope comes to symbolise her mooted deputy leadership bid, Tessa Jowell has been left on the outside looking in. Yes, the over-zealous security checks have somehow managed to deny the Cabinet Minister a pass for the conference site. Organisers are blaming Greater Manchester Police for problems that have seen countless visitors’ passes denied or simply lost. It’s enough to make us nostalgic for Blackpool. Well, almost.

Update:  We gather that Jowell managed to get her pass in time for today’s fond farewell from the leader – though there were plenty of other party members who had to watch from nearby bars as they’re still waiting on theirs. The Daily encountered at least one former Labour MP who was going home, having given up entirely.
