Lib Dems take firm stance on Israel/Lebanon

Charities and NGOs have set up a website – www.ceasefiretoday.org– to encourage voters to lobby those MPs not willing to call for the bombing and killing in the middle east to immediately cease.

News reaches us from people calling the MPs to check on their stance of the tough views of Lib Dems.  This conversation is apparently typical:

Caller: “We’re phoning MPs to see if they have called on the Prime Minister to demand an immediate ceasefire”.

Lib Dem MP: “Erm…  what is everyone else saying?”

Lovely stuff.  Good to know that when it comes to the big issues of the day, the Lib Dems are providing real moral leadership.

  1. Nick says:

Ah, fond memories of Charles Kennedy’s famous speech to the anti-war rally: “I do not believe that the case for war has yet been made!” Stirring stuff.

  2. Yes, second only to Churchill’s wonderful: “we might fight them on the beaches, depending what the weather’s like” speech.
